Gretchen Fitzgerald, EMPA Candidate Spring 2014's first Peer to Peer explored big data in the context of non-profits/NGOs. In today's world of constant information gathering, how does a non-profit utilize and act on the metadata being produced? This conversation with Ms. Gretchen Fitzgerald tried to help explain the role of data collection and data analysis in non-profit policy making and management. She also discussed the emerging technology and how big data can assist small NGOs. Gretchen Fitzgerald is pursuing an EMPA degree in order to expand her knowledge of leadership skills and nonprofit management. She is an Information Analyst/Data Coordinator at the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs. Ms. Fitzgerald holds a bachelor's degree from Niagara University and a law degree from Hofstra University. Ms. Fitzgerald brought her professional knowledge to the Peer to Peer series with her, speaking about her experiences with up-and-coming technologies in the non-profit sector.
